The Alcat test can answer that, based on your blood, and your reactions to foods. Because inflammation is the cause of many diseases, from heart disease to arthritis, knowing which foods cause you problem can actually help you with osteoarthritis prevention. Because everyone is different. And while romaine lettuce may make my favorite salad, it might make you feel awful.

How Can Food Be Bad for Me?Understanding the difference between a food allergy and a food sensitivity will explain why you may still be searching for answers to what foods make you feel bad.
There are 2 types of food allergies: IgE and IgG. The Ig designation stands for the type of antibody your body makes in response to a particular substance. IgE allergies are also known as type 1 or immediate onset food allergies. This is the one you think of when someone eats shellfish or peanuts and has an immediate and possibly deadly reaction.
IgG allergies are also known as type 2 or delayed onset food allergies. They may take anywhere from a few hours to a few days to show symptoms.
The difference between the two is while type 1 allergies tend to show "allergy like" signs such as hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of the throat and other membranes, a type 2 allergy can show any symptom, anywhere in the body. Some common ones are muscle fatigue, joint pain, GI problems like bloating or cramping, headaches, and skin disorders.
IgE and IgG food allergies CAN be found on routine blood work, and for patients with shellfish allergies or celiac disease, this blood work will define the problem.
But what if your IgE and IgG tests are negative? That was me... my anti-gliadin antibody test was negative (which means I don't have a true wheat allergy) but I instinctively knew there was an issue with it. Every time I ate too much pasta or pizza (my husband is Italian) my joints would ache. I would bloat up and my skin would sag and I thought, "I know this is because of wheat!" Routine blood work was negative though.
Your Immune SystemYour immune system is much like an army. There are the generals looking at the big picture and the foot soldiers doing most of the "grunt work." The generals are the antibodies.
