About SBI! (Site Build It!)

Have you heard the phrase "Man/Woman plans; God laughs"?

That was me.

I spent my whole life being interested in health and wellness and finally at the age of 29 decided to devote several years to becoming a Doctor of Chiropractic so I could help people.

I graduated in August 2002, took my Ethics and Jurisprudence course in December 2002, and received my California license to practice on January 8, 2003. I remember pulling into the garage after work and my husband (who had opened the mail) had hung my license on the door leading from the garage to the house.

I screamed, and jumping up and down ran into the house!

Fast forward five (count them... 1-2-3-4-5) days. To a positive pregnancy test.

Of course I was thrilled to be having a child... but wait! I just got my license to practice. I'm a Doctor now! My career is JUST starting.

Woman plans. God laughs.

The beauty of children is that they help you re-prioritize your life, and over the last 5 years, I realize how precious every day is with them. I've worked part-time since my oldest daughter was born. Or maybe I should say I've practiced part-time since she was born, because I'm pretty sure I've never worked harder in my life than I have since becoming a parent. 😉

OK, so in 2003 I had my first daughter. In March of 2004 I opened my own practice and guess what?! That's right, just a couple months later I was pregnant with my youngest.

I know I hear laughing from up above.

I'm telling you this because if you suffer from arthritis or other chronic health problems, you probably feel like a lot of your plans have been put on hold too. Or like your options are limited, or like you can't do what you used to do.

And I'm here to tell you that may be true to some extent, but with the world wide web, you're really only limited by your imagination.

My First Web Attempt

I've been using the web almost since it first became available publicly. I still have recipes that I printed off AOL back in the early 1990's.

So when I started practicing, I knew that a website was going to be important to me. It does several things: First, it allows people to "get to know you" before meeting you. In my field, that's important. If patients trust me, they're more likely to get better. It's just the way it is. They're also more likely to refer their friends and family to me, which is crucial to the growth and success of my business. Second, it can reach people who are outside your geographical region. That allows you to sell services or products to people you otherwise couldn't easily touch.

My first website went live a couple years ago, and my web designer did a beautiful job. It had all the features I wanted it to. Unfortunately, it sat there and never got any traffic unless someone had my business card. It was a beautiful web brochure that no one really saw.

My second website was more geared to selling product. It went up pretty quickly, and again, the web designer (someone different) did a great job. And I spent nearly $300 in pay per click ads to sell $6 worth of stretching exercises.

(Sigh.)

By the way, I respect both those web designers tremendously. They did a great job of getting my ideas out of my head and onto the web. But my brain moves at a pace that I can hardly keep up with, and it does so much like a bumblebee. It flits from idea here to idea there and then back again. And I'm sure that I drove both of them crazy with the pace of changes I wanted on the websites.

It became clear to me I needed to be in control of my site. Otherwise I was just going to drive webmasters mad...

How I found SBI! (Site Build It!)

I told you about the bumblebee aspect of my brain... I was surfing the web looking for ideas for my website and I came across this exercise site written by a young man. It was pretty thorough as far as websites went. He had a newsletter and a lot of great information, and he talked about how he built his website using just his knowledge and this thing called Site Build It!

I started doing the research.

And that was when I learned about search engines and traffic and C>T>P>M.

The process is simplified to such a degree that success (i.e., profits, not the mere presence of a Web site) is achievable even for a beginner. For an experienced person, achieving success is even smoother. SBI! really does change lives.

Too many non-SBI! sites start without profits being "built into" the process from DAY 1. It all begins with the right process. Content Traffic PREsell Monetize is the underlying, logical and powerful process that capitalizes upon the fundamental realities of how people use the Web. C T P M puts you on a solid, profitable business foundation.

Page creation is as simple as riding a bike with its training wheels still attached. No need to know HTML. The block-by-block builder trains you how to write a page that is both "Search Engine and human effective." It's simple, do-able and most importantly, effective site-building. The block-by-block builder is perfect for beginners, but even many "advanced" users should start with this tool. It's an excellent way to break bad habits!

Search Engine spider/listing/ranking reports let you see how your pages are being handled by the Search Engines. You can see what pages rank best and drive traffic. Each report's insights help you to determine how to increase traffic and monetization. Most pros don't have easy and reliable access to this type of information.

List-building and e-mail marketing are included (usually these expensive features are bought separately). Sign up visitors to your e-zine subscription list and then mail an issue to them. This repeat exposure builds a stronger bond with your visitors and allows for direct promotions to them. Deeper PREselling = More Monetization.

PREselling is a concept "invented" by SiteSell, part of the C T P M process. The concept is simple. As small business people, you do not have a brand name that is known and trusted. So you have to build that before you can monetize. Seems obvious, right? So few people do it, or they don't do it right, online.

The Testimonials That Convinced Me

I looked and looked at the information about SBI! and I had a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach. Not about SBI!, but about the other sites I had going. I realized why no one was finding me on the web - I hadn't designed my sites to please humans AND search engines.

"My goal was to build an online business that would generate an income equal (or greater, of course) to the salary I was earning. And also wouldn't be dependant on any country's economy (as my country's economy is in shambles...)."~ Elad Shippony

Also, I didn't have a clue about how to put ads on my site, or sell goods online or anything. But now I do. Was it easy? Well, yes and no. It's taken me a LOT of time. But it's not difficult. If I can do it, anyone can do it.

"SBI! will teach you things to help you build your business. Yes, you will learn to use technical, web-oriented, site building tools, but the most interesting things that SBI! will teach you are more complex than these tools. SBI! will make you aware of the power you have inside yourself to create something that really works because YOU are the "added value" to the process."Jerry Mack

So what do you know that other people want to know about? It could be anything. And you can use what you're interested in to create a website that works!

"I sat at my PC and just typed and typed. I knew absolutely nothing about the internet, websites, HTML, or anything... I just typed. The great thing about SBI is that they do all of the hard (and necessary) work for me. That frees up my time to do what I do best and love the most... write, teach, play, and learn."~ Nick Stubbs
